About Us

Janine Hughey has over 50 years of experience in owning, riding, working and caring for horses.  Janine’s experience taking care of a horse barn, began when she was 12.  Her sister’s barn of 20 horses was the beginning of Janine’s love for anything equestrian.  She worked at her sister’s barn until 1984 when she left for Virginia.

1984 Janine worked as a feed manager at Langley AF Base Saddle club, a 40-horse barn, located on Langley Air Force Base.  There she performed all duties to include, feeding, daily handling of horses, administrating medications and shots if needed to injured horses.  She was also required to coordinate all vaccinations with veterinarians.  Janine would then record the information to be turned over to the military veterinarian.
In 2001, When Jeff retired from the Air Force, Janine was offered the position as barn manager at Kentucky Farms. Janine left Langley Saddle Club and along with Jeff, moved to Kentucky Farms. Since that time, Janine, working with her daughters, have seen Kentucky Farms become a much sought after horse boarding facility of approximately 90 horses.
In their years at Kentucky Farms, Janine has been diligently, working long hours, making Kentucky Farms the success it is today. With the safety of the horses and their riders as their foremost concern, they see to it that the buildings, pastures, and riding facilities are properly maintained and clean. Their skilled management has not only filled all available stalls but has created a waiting list with others desiring to have their horses kept under the watchful care of Janine.
Janine started a 4-H at Kentucky Farms which she ran for 10 years.  Taking the kids to horse shows and to the 4-H District and State shows.  At the same time she was giving lessons to young children, teaching them everything she had learned over 50+ years with horses. Janine's five children all rode, two of them became 4-H state champions 3 separate times.
